Today, Rep. Victoria Spartz (IN-05) introduced the Nuclear Regulatory Modernization Act of 2026, legislation to accelerate the deployment of small modular reactors (SMRs) and strengthen America's energy security.
The bill would streamline the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's licensing process by eliminating obsolete mandatory hearings. It would also speed the domestic deployment of uranium enrichment facilities to reduce America's reliance on imports from countries such as Russia.
