SMITH'S ISLAND CLOSED TO PUBLIC ACCESS OCT. 27-30

ROCK ISLAND, Ill., Oct. 22 -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - Rock Island District issued the following news release:

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, announces that Smith's Island Recreation Area at Locks and Dam 14 in Pleasant Valley, Iowa, will be closed to public access Oct. 27-30. The closure is necessary to facilitate removal of invasive species and tree planting activities.
