Recently, the Senate unanimously passed a bipartisan resolution led by U.S. Senators Thom Tillis (R-NC), co-founder and co-chair of the Senate Mental Health Caucus and a member of the Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs, and Angus King (I-ME) designating Sept. 30, 2026, as National Veterans Suicide Prevention Day. The Tillis-King resolution encourages the public, veteran service organizations, community partners, and health care providers to raise awareness of veteran suicide prevention and the resources available to veterans in crisis.
