JACKSON, Miss., Oct. 7 -- The Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce issued the following news release:
Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce Gipson invites the public to attend the 167th Mississippi State Fair and enjoy entertainment and special events Thursday, October 8, through Friday, October 9, at the Mississippi State Fairgrounds in Jackson. Thursday, October 8, Commissioner Gipson will cut the ribbon to open the gates of the 167th Mississippi State Fair at 11:00 a.m. At 8:30 p.m., a fireworks show will wrap up the opening day's events.
Friday, October 9, is First Responder Friday, and all first responders will receive free admission to the State Fair with valid identification.
