WASHINGTON, March 20 -- Sen. Brian Schatz issued the following press release:

U.S. Senator Brian Schatz (D-Hawai'i) announced the Honolulu Department of Transportation Services will receive more than $11.5 million from the Federal Transit Administration to purchase replacement buses and other equipment. The new funding will allow for an aging fleet to be replenished with newer, modern buses which will improve reliability for passengers.

"As more people on O'ahu ride transit, this funding will strengthen the bus system and help people get to where they need to go, safely and more reliably," said Senator Schatz, a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee.
