Today, Congressman Chip Roy (TX-21) voted in favor of the Stop Insider Trading Act (H.R. 7008), critical legislation that prohibits Members of Congress and their spouses and dependent children from purchasing stocks and requires public notice before these individuals may sell stocks.
Since his first term in Congress, Rep. Roy has been a leader in the House on ending Congressional stock trading, introducing the bipartisan TRUST in Congress Act (H.R. 7200) back in 2020-the first legislation to tackle this issue since the STOCK Act (S.2038) in 2012. Rep. Roy subsequently introduced the bipartisan Restore Trust in Congress Act (H.R. 5106) in 2025.
