This week, Congressman Jeff Hurd's Made in America Jobs Act (H.R. 7342) passed the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
This legislation authorizes the Secretary of Commerce to consider projects that bring manufacturing jobs back to economically distressed communities as eligible for pre-existing Economic Development Administration grant programs. These programs, supported by the EDA, help local leaders prepare sites, improve infrastructure, and plan for new employers looking to expand or return operations to high-unemployment, low-income, or otherwise economically distressed communities in the United States.
