WASHINGTON, April 6 -- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's U.S. Secret Service issued the following press release:
TAMPA - Nick Guadalupe Cruz-Lopez (20, Plant City, FL) has been arrested and charged by criminal complaint with making a threat to kill the President of the United States. If convicted, Cruz-Lopez faces a maximum penalty of five years in Federal prison. United States Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe made the announcement.
According to the complaint, on April 2, 2026, Cruz-Lopez posted the following photo on his Instagram account, which stated, "MAGA Otw to kill trump" and showed Cruz-Lopez in a vehicle holding an AR-15 style rifle:
