ORONO, Maine, Aug. 14 -- University of Maine issued the following news release:

PBS's "Modern Pioneering" program featured the University of Maine's Darling Marine Center for a segment on food systems in Maine. The segment highlighted its research into sustainable aquaculture and the cultivation of oysters, mussels, scallops and kelp in a changing Gulf of Maine. "This is kind of the birthplace, at least for shellfish aquaculture, in the state of Maine," said Damian Brady, professor of Oceanography based at the Darling Marine Center.
