OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY ISSUES RULE: CAUSE OF AIRLINE DELAY AND CANCELLATION CATEGORIES UNDER SECTION 511(B) OF THE FAA REAUTHORIZATION ACT OF 2024; DELAY OF EFFECTIVE DATE

WASHINGTON, Oct. 15 -- Office of the Secretary has issued a rule called: Cause of Airline Delay and Cancellation Categories Under Section 511(b) of the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024; Delay of Effective Date.

The rule was published in the Federal Register on Oct. 15 by Edward Strocko, Acting Director, Bureau of Transportation Statistics.

Summary: The U.S. Department of Transportation (Department or DOT) is delaying the effective date of its September 3, 2026 final rule, titled "Cause of Airline Delay and Cancellation Categories under Section 511(b) of the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024, " until February 1, 2027.
