WASHINGTON, July 16 -- Nuclear Regulatory Commission has issued a proposed rule called: Modernizing Reactor Licensing, Safety Oversight, and Siting Practices.
The proposed rule was published in the Federal Register on July 16 by Jody Martin, Secretary of the Commission.
Summary: Consistent with Executive Order 14300, "Ordering the Reform of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, " the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is conducting a review and wholesale revision of its regulations. This proposed rule aims to modernize reactor licensing, safety oversight, and siting practices addressing sections 5(f), 5(h), and 5(i) of Executive Order 14300, and additional items that contribute to adding additional generation to the electrical grid.
