NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION ISSUES PROPOSED RULE: MODERNIZING MATERIALS LICENSING

WASHINGTON, June 24 -- Nuclear Regulatory Commission has issued a proposed rule called: Modernizing Materials Licensing.

The proposed rule was published in the Federal Register on June 24 by Carrie Safford, Secretary of the Commission.

Summary: The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is proposing to amend its regulations for byproduct, source, and special nuclear material to modernize the NRC's materials licensing requirements. This proposed action is responsive to several executive orders and the NRC's mission to enable safe, efficient, and reliable licensing.
