The proposed rule was published in the Federal Register on Oct. 5 by Jody Martin, Secretary of the Commission.

Summary: The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is proposing to amend several regulations for byproduct, source, and special nuclear material by expanding how certain nuclear material can be safely used without a license. This proposed action would be responsive to the NRC's mission to enable safe, efficient, and reliable licensing and consistent with several Executive orders.
