News Center Maine reported on the University of Maine's Summer Educators Institute, where nearly 100 rural educators gathered to collaborate on challenges including teacher support, student attendance and family engagement. The program is part of UMaine's Rural Thrive Initiative, which aims to strengthen rural education through professional development and mentorship. "One of the things that can make a big difference about their decision to do that is the kind of and the quality of the support they get in the first three years in the classroom," said Catherine Biddle, professor of educational leadership at UMaine.
