U.S. Senators Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), Tim Kaine (D-Va.), Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), and 35 Senate Democrats are refuting (https://www.schiff.senate.gov/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/WPR-legal-analysis.pdf) the Trump administration's claim in a May 1 letter (https://www.politico.com/news/2026/05/01/trump-congress-war-terminated-00902681) to Congress that the hostilities that began on February 28, 2026 in Iran have "terminated" and requesting President Donald Trump release the Office of Legal Counsel (OLC) opinion supporting this claim.
