Today, Rep. Frank J. Mrvan announced a federal grant award for the City of Whiting under the Department of Transportation's (DOT) Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) Grant program.
The at-grade railroad crossings have long created a serious barrier between the City of Whiting and its Lake Michigan shoreline, impacting emergency response times and limiting connectivity between the community's downtown and waterfront assets.
