JACKSON, Miss., Sept. 25 -- The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources issued the following news release:
The 2026 - 2027 Mississippi Oyster Season will open for the harvest of oysters, beginning at legal sunrise on Thursday, October 1, 2026.
Hours for October harvest of oysters are legal sunrise until check-out at 12 p.m. The harvest of oysters will be closed on Sundays.
The approved and conditionally approved areas are:
* Area I "B" This area includes St. Joe reefs
* Area II "B," This area includes Waveland and St. Stanislaus reefs (tonging only)
* Area II "E" This area includes Henderson Point reefs
* Area V "A" This area includes Biloxi Bay Reef (tonging only)
