Oregon's U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley today announced his bipartisan Title VIII Nursing Workforce Reauthorization Act (https://www.merkley.senate.gov/during-national-nurses-month-merkley-collins-baldwin-blackburn-champion-bipartisan-bill-to-support-americas-nursing-workforce/) cleared a key hurdle by passing out of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP). Merkley's bill reauthorizes, updates, and improves critical Nursing Workforce Development Programs under Title VIII of the Public Health Service Act, a law passed in 1944 to support public health and health care professionals.
