Washington (August 6, 2026) - Senator Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) released the following statement after a lower court officially confirmed the end of Haiti Temporary Protected Status (TPS), following the Supreme Court's June ruling greenlighting the Trump administration's cruel termination. Senators Markey and Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-Del.), along with Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley (MA-07), have been fighting to pass legislation to extend Haiti TPS protections through 2028. That legislation passed the House of Representatives in April but was blocked by Republicans in the Senate when Senators Markey and Blunt Rochester forced a vote on the bill two weeks ago.
