FARMVILLE, Va., May 6 -- Longwood University issued the following news release:
Most college seniors spend spring semester worrying about finals and graduation. Jaedyn Colon '26 spent his researching a potential breakthrough in cancer immunotherapy treatments.
Colon, who aspires to attend medical school, researched the anti-cancer properties of acacia tree extracts with Dr. Amorette Barber, professor of biology.
"In Africa, they use acacia extracts as cancer treatments, kind of like home remedies," explained Colon, a biology major with a pre-med concentration. "We set out to figure out how it was anti-cancer, and if it was actually working, or if it was more of a placebo effect."
