FAYETTEVILLE, Ark., Aug. 14 -- The University of Arkansas issued the following news release:

L.B. "Bernie" Daniels, who retired from the U of A in 2001 as a faculty member in the Department of Animal Science, passed away in Fayetteville on July 13. He was 85.

A native of Thornton, Arkansas, who worked on his family's farm in Fordyce, he joined the university as a faculty member in 1969 and became a professor in 1979. He served as associate director of the Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station for 10 years and served as interim dean of the College of Agriculture before returning to the faculty and teaching.
