KENNESAW, Ga., Sept. 17 -- Kennesaw State University issued the following news release:

The award recognizes Georgia leaders who demonstrate exemplary community leadership, strengthen their communities, encourage respectful dialogue, and promote the norms of a healthy democratic society.

Castater, who teaches courses in government and politics in the Norman J. Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences, was awarded for his work in promoting civil political dialogue on the Kennesaw State campus and in the local community.

"It was deeply humbling to be recognized alongside so many extraordinary people including Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger who are doing such important work," Castater said.
