Today, Senators Mark Kelly (D-AZ) and Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) introduced the Community Water Project Acceleration Act (https://www.kelly.senate.gov/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Community-Water-Project-Acceleration-Act.pdf) to help local communities speed up delivery of locally-led water infrastructure projects. The bill would streamline federal review requirements for U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Civil Works projects with limited federal funding, building on a model (https://www.congress.gov/bill/112th-congress/house-bill/4348/text) already used for federal highway projects.
