Today, U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC), demanded more information following reports (https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/national-security/gilibrand-calls-information-reports-hegseth-withholding-promotions-rcna266955) that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has blocked or delayed promotions for over a dozen Black and female senior officers across all four branches of the military.
Gillibrand's letter to SASC Chairman Roger Wicker (R-MS) requests a closed hearing concerning Secretary Hegseth's actions to examine whether they may have been motivated by politics or inappropriate bias.
