WASHINGTON, March 19 -- Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith issued the following news release:

U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) today pointed to Mississippi's successful voter ID law in a floor speech advocating Senate passage of the SAVE America Act, which she cosponsored.

Hyde-Smith's speech is part a broader effort by Senate Republicans to advance the legislation (S.1383) and overcome Democrat opposition to requiring a photo ID to vote in a federal election.
