WASHINGTON, May 1 -- Sen. John Hoeven issued the following news release:

At a Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee hearing examining the President's Fiscal Year 2027 budget request for the Department of the Interior, Senator John Hoeven and Department of the Interior (DOI) Secretary Doug Burgum discussed advancing the Senator's "Crack the Code 2.0" initiative to expand enhanced oil recovery (EOR) in the Bakken while extending the life of North Dakota's coal-fired power plants.

Hoeven is working to finalize $36 million in Department of Energy (DOE) funding for a $157 million large-scale demonstration project, including $76 million in private investment and $45 million from the state of North Dakota.
