Today, Representative Jim Himes (CT-04), a senior member of the House Financial Services Committee (FSC), introduced the No Preferential Release of Federal Information for Transactions (NO PROFIT) Act, a bill that would bar social media companies from offering faster, subscription-based access to government employees' accounts that communicate material information. He was joined by five FSC members: Representatives Brad Sherman (CA-32), Bill Foster (IL-11), Josh Gottheimer (NJ-05), Sean Casten (IL-06), and Sam Liccardo (CA-16).
