U.S. Senators Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), Ranking Member of the U.S. Senate Energy & Natural Resources Committee, and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) led a group of Democratic senators in a letter to President Trump, calling on him to restore vital protections for the Northeast Canyons and Seamounts Marine National Monument.

Located off the coast of New England, the Monument is a large biodiverse area of open ocean, larger than Yellowstone National Park, with a seascape of underwater canyons that rival the depth of the Grand Canyon and mountains that are as high as the Appalachians.
