Wednesday, August 26, 2026 - The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded Virginia Tech, based in Blacksburg, Virginia, two research related grants worth $932,292. These grants are for allergy and infectious diseases research.
The funding breakdown of the grants is as follows:
$199,059 for researching how bacteria interact with each other and evolve during infections that involve biofilms
$733,233 for researching whether the old antibiotic nitroxoline can be used for treating drug-resistant gonorrhea and chlamydia
