SACRAMENTO-Governor Newsom signed Assembly Bill (AB) 1534 by Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin (D-Thousand Oaks), creating the strongest approval standards and student protections for Workforce Pell programs in the nation to date. AB 1534 will provide additional guardrails for the approval of public and private short-term workforce training programs aligned with California's implementation of new federal Workforce Pell Grants.
