WASHINGTON, July 10 -- Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand issued the following press release:

U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) today called on Department of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Director Joseph Edlow to reinstate Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haiti.

The push follows a recent U.S. Supreme Court decision permitting the Trump administration to terminate Haiti's TPS designation. Affected Haitian nationals will lose their work authorization after today, July 10. New York is home to a large Haitian community, with vibrant populations in New York City, Spring Valley, and across Long Island.
