FIVE BASEBALL STUDENT-ATHLETES NAMED ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill., June 4 -- Southern Illinois University- Edwardsville issued the following news release:

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Five SIUE baseball student-athletes were named Academic All-District(R) on Tuesday by College Sports Communicators, which recognizes student-athletes for their performance in the field and in the classroom.

Porter Conn,Daniel Gierer,Sean Kang,Joseph Martin,andSpencer Stearnswere selected to the Academic All-District team.

Individuals must have achieved at least a 3.500 grade point average, and players must have appeared in 90 percent of the team's games or started in at least 66 percent. Pitchers must have appeared in 17 games or pitched at least 35 innings.
