PULLMAN, Wash., June 10 -- Washington State University issued the following news release:
A six-week paid summer externship is introducing Washington State University veterinary students to careers in livestock by pairing them with dairy and feedlot operations throughout the Pacific Northwest.
The WSU College of Veterinary Medicine's Northwest Bovine Experience aims to increase the number of students interested in food animal medicine and expose them to the realities of the field. The decades-old program is especially critical amid a well-documented food animal veterinarian shortage in Washington state.
