UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa., Aug. 12 -- Pennsylvania State University issued the following news release:

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State's highly ranked mining engineering program is slated to be among the recipients of a proposed $100 million investment from the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Critical Minerals and Energy Innovation.

In a press release issued Aug. 7, the DOE announced a notice of intent for up to $100 million "to strengthen America's critical minerals workforce, supporting President Donald Trump's agenda to restore U.S. energy dominance, rebuild domestic supply chains and reduce reliance on foreign adversaries for the materials that power modern energy, manufacturing and defense technologies."
