WASHINGTON, April 27 -- The U.S. Department of Justice's U.S. Attorney's office for XXXXXX (insert district) issued the following press release:

WASHINGTON - Charles Lewis,35, of Washington, D.C., pleaded guilty Friday in connection to the deadly beating of 55-year-old Mark Carter, that occurred in Southeast Washington, D.C. on October 10, 2022, announced U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro.

The defendant pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree murder in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. The charges havea sentencing range of 12-15 years of incarceration. Sentencing has been scheduled for October 2, 2026.
