On Thursday, March 5, 2026, the Virginia Tech Police Department received a report of a sexual assault. The incident occurred at Creativity and Innovation District (185 Kent Street) in the early hours of March 5, 2026. The survivor and offender were known to each other and are best described as acquaintances. The suspect is a student at Virginia Tech.
As reported, this incident meets the elements of Rape as defined in Virginia Code 18.2-61, Object Sexual Penetration as defined in Virginia Code 18.2-67.2, and Abduction as defined in Virginia Code 18.2-47.
