Today, Congresswoman Norma Torres (CA-35), a member of the Anti-Corruption Caucus, introduced the Bribery Accountability and Discovery (BAD) Act (https://torres.house.gov/imo/media/doc/bribery_accountability_and_discovery_act_bad_act.pdf), legislation to close a dangerous loophole in federal law that allows bribery schemes to evade prosecution simply because they remained hidden long enough.
The BAD Act would ensure that the statute of limitations for federal bribery offenses does not begin until the crime is discovered or is reported to federal law enforcement, preventing corrupt public officials and those who bribe them from escaping accountability...
