Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-24), today introduced the No Goodwill for Harming Women Act, legislation that would prohibit professional women's sports franchises that allow biological males to compete in women's sports from receiving a federal tax benefit tied to franchise acquisitions.
Under current law, purchasers of sports franchises may claim tax advantages related to intangible assets such as brand value and broadcast rights, commonly referred to as "goodwill".
