Congresswoman Lateefah Simon (D-CA-12) joined Congressman Greg Casar (D-TX-35) and Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) in introducing the Home Team Act, which would require owners of professional sports teams to give local communities the chance to buy teams before relocating them. In recent years, Oakland has watched its beloved sports teams leave one after another, leaving a gap in the city's community identity and economy.
