On April 29, the U.S. Supreme Court dismantled the Voting Rights Act (https://apnews.com/article/supreme-court-voting-rights-act-louisiana-alabama-4e3225083caccda5ec73a98533a79add), setting off a wave of attacks on Black representation and Black communities' ability to elect Black leaders across the South.
In the court case of Louisiana v. Callais (https://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/25pdf/24-109_21o3.pdf), the Supreme Court ruled that the drawing of a majority-Black congressional district in Louisiana to remedy previous racial gerrymandering constituted an unconstitutional racial gerrymander.
