WASHINGTON - Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Administration has approved two requests from the Tennessee Department of Human Services to loosen restrictions on the timely request for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) replacement benefits due to the major storm damage last Saturday, August 22. The second waiver authorizes replacement of those benefits.
Households already enrolled in the SNAP program in eight ZIP codes are eligible: 38004, 38108, 38111, 38115, 38116, 38119, 38126 and 38141. The number of SNAP beneficiaries in the affected area is estimated at 65,222. The t...
