Lamar University students have a new way to experience the realities of the energy industry before they ever step onto a refinery floor, thanks to a $500,000 investment from Valero that has transformed laboratory space in the College of Engineering.

University and Valero Port Arthur Refinery officials gathered Wednesday for a ribbon cutting celebrating the new Valero Reaction Lab, a facility designed to give engineering students hands-on experience with technology and processes used in industry.
