WASHINGTON, July 2 -- Coast Guard has issued a rule called: Safety Zone; Western Lake Erie, Kelleys Island, OH.

The rule was published in the Federal Register on July 2 by Caren C. Damon, Captain, U.S. Coast Guard, Captain of the Port Detroit.

Summary: The Coast Guard is establishing a temporary safety zone for certain navigable waters of Western Lake Erie within a 375-yard radius of 1230 W Lakeshore Drive on Kelleys Island, OH. The safety zone is needed to protect personnel, vessels, and the marine environment from potential hazards during a fireworks event. This rulemaking prohibits entry of vessels or persons into this safety zone during enforcement periods unless specifically authorized by the Captain of the Port Detroit.
