WASHINGTON, May 5 -- Coast Guard has issued a proposed rule called: Shipping Safety Fairways Along the Atlantic Coast.

The proposed rule was published in the Federal Register on May 5 by Robert C. Compher, Captain, U.S. Coast Guard, Acting Assistant Commandant for Prevention Policy.

Summary: On January 19, 2024, the Coast Guard published a proposed rule to establish shipping safety fairways ("fairways") and related vessel routing measures along the Atlantic coast, from Long Island, New York to Port St. Lucie, Florida to preserve safe and reliable transit of vessels along well-established traffic patterns and routes and to further improve navigation safety.
