Brief Summary: Status epilepticus is a life-threatening neurological emergency characterized by prolonged seizures or multiple seizures occurring without the patient regaining consciousness between episodes. Convulsive status epilepticus is associated with high rates of morbidity and mortality if not promptly recognized and controlled.
