U.S., Nov. 7 -- ClinicalTrials.gov registry received information related to the study (NCT07921940) titled 'Effect of Probiotics on Insulin Sensitivity in Overweight and Obese Pregnancy' on Oct. 16.

Brief Summary: The goal of this clinical trial is to learn if taking a probiotic supplement during pregnancy improves the body's response to insulin (insulin sensitivity) in pregnant women who were overweight or obese before pregnancy (body mass index >=25 kg/m2). Reduced insulin sensitivity is common in these women and increases the risk of gestational diabetes mellitus and excessive fetal growth. Growing evidence suggests that the bacteria in the gut (gut microbiome) play a role in regulating blood sugar and insulin action.
