Brief Summary: Subacromial impingement syndrome (SAIS) is the most common cause of shoulder pain, accounting for a large proportion of musculoskeletal complaints. Muscle weakness, especially of the rotator cuff and scapular stabilizers, plays a major role in its pathomechanics.
