Brief Summary: Acute cholecystitis is common in elderly patients and becomes more frequent with increasing age. Standard treatment is laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LCC), but operative treatment may be associated with increased risk in older patients with substantial comorbidity or reduced tolerance of general anesthesia.
