CENTERS FOR MEDICARE & MEDICAID SERVICES ISSUES PROPOSED RULE: MEDICARE PROGRAM; PROSPECTIVE PAYMENT SYSTEM AND CONSOLIDATED BILLING FOR SKILLED NURSING FACILITIES; UPDATES TO THE QUALITY REPORTING PROGRAM FOR FEDERAL FISCAL YEAR 2027

WASHINGTON, April 7 -- Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has issued a proposed rule called: Medicare Program; Prospective Payment System and Consolidated Billing for Skilled Nursing Facilities; Updates to the Quality Reporting Program for Federal Fiscal Year 2027.

The proposed rule was published in the Federal Register on April 7 by Robert F. Kennedy, Secretary, Department of Health and Human Services.

Summary: This rule proposes changes and updates to the policies and payment rates used under the Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) Prospective Payment System (PPS) for fiscal year 2027. This proposed rule also updates the requirements for the SNF Quality Reporting Program and the SNF Value-Based Purchasing Program.
