Today, the United States Senate voted 47-53 against a resolution to remove United States Armed Forces from hostilities within or against Iran that have not been authorized by Congress. U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA), who cosponsored the resolution and voted in favor of passage, gave the following statement:

"The President doesn't believe he is subject to constraints, but the Constitution and the law require Congressional approval for any broad-based military action.
